What to Expect at a Bali Holiday Retreat

If you are feeling tired and frazzled it might be time to go on a Bali holiday retreat. Retreats are not like your normal holiday, where you try to cram as much sightseeing and fun into the time you have as possible. The result is that you often get home more tired than when you went and feel the need of another holiday to recover.

When you book into a holiday retreat, you don’t go sightseeing or have extreme – and dangerous – fun. Although you can if you want to.  But you don’t spend most of the nights partying on the beach or at a nightclub. And you don’t walk your feet off trying to see as much as possible.  Retreats are meant to be a time of rest and relaxation, although they are not all the same, and some may offer different forms of relaxation or even entertainment.

A retreat is more like a day spa, only you can book it for longer than a day – times vary. Some offer different packages of a certain lengths of time. You can also book different things to do while you are there, such as having a massage or lots of beauty treatments.  The whole idea is for you to leave feeling relaxed and refreshed, ready to take on the battles of life once again.

Some retreats offer daily yoga and meditation or unlimited spa treatments.  Others offer sightseeing with a personal driver so you don’t have to do anything that could be stressful. Most offer wonderful, healthy and nutritious food so that your body can be nurtured and nourished at the same time. You can also find the kind of retreat that limits its accommodation to just a handful of women at one time, allowing the staff to devote their entire attention to the clientele that is there.

Many women spend years putting others first in their lives until it becomes such an ingrained habit that they never think to devote time to their own needs, to the detriment of their health. Booking into a retreat may be the first time in their adult life where it was all about them instead of all about their husband, family and often parents and work as well.

Not all retreats are about rest and relaxation only; some do arrange for the kind of fun and exciting holiday activities that will get your adrenaline pumping. But when that is over you can come back to the peace and quiet of the retreat and have your needs looked after without having to mind the children and sort out their quarrels, cook for the family or clean the house. Sounds like bliss, doesn’t it?

In fact, you can include just a few days of retreat in with your normal holiday if you feel like it. You’ll leave feeling so much better it will sure to be an option for next year too.
